Yi——Burning Dreamscape

Yi——Burning Dreamscape draws its inspiration from the Yi ethnic minority, a group native to the southwestern region of China. Combining elements of Yi folklore and traditions, this artwork incorporates Yi colors, totems, and aesthetics to depict a futuristic scene of the Torch Festival. The composition features a blend of laboratory settings, lush forests, roaring fires, symbolic totems, and mechanical robots, all crafted through the lens of visual art. The intention behind this creation is to preserve the vitality of Yi culture in a visually compelling and artistic manner.

The Five Seasons of the Universe is a narrative inspired by the Big Dipper and the changing seasons, drawing from the Yi people's "Ten-Month Calendar."
Buckwheat Has Bloomed

The Buckwheat Has Bloomed is a digital folklore artwork inspired by stories from the Yi creation epic "Meige." It combines the "creation" and "making" parts of the epic, presenting a cultural panorama of the Yi people through digital forms. The work explores themes of culture, life, nature, and the cosmos' genesis, eruption, and decline.
AR/The Phenomenon of Firecracks
The Phenomenon of Firecracks reimagines Yunnan's traditional Torch Festival through cutting-edge augmented reality (AR). Presented at the London Yunnan Culture and Arts Festival 2024, the installation, crafted by Ash Xu and Leo Lin from the Royal College of Art, alongside Raine Lee from Glasgow School of Art, allows visitors to interact with virtual torches in a vivid celebration of Yunnan's ethnic minority heritage.
